สำนักข่าวท้องถิ่นรายงานว่า สุลต่านมูฮัมหมัดที่ 5 แห่งรัฐกลันตัน อดีตสมเด็จพระราชาธิบดี หรือยังดี-เปอร์ตวน อากงแห่งมาเลเซีย มีพระประสงค์ไม่ขอรับการถวายเงินหลวงถวายเป็นเวลา 6 เดือน เพื่อนำเข้ากองทุนช่วยเหลือผู้ป่วยติดเชื้อโควิด-19
สำนักพระราชวังของกลันตันได้เผยแพร่พระดำรัสว่า สุลต่านมูฮัมหมัดทรงมีความหวังว่าเงินหลวงนี้อาจช่วยบรรเทาปัญหาของประเทศลงได้ พร้อมด้วยมีพระดำรัสถึงการดำเนินการมาตรการฉุกเฉินของเจ้าหน้าที่รัฐ ที่อาจดูยุ่งยากแต่จำต้องดำเนินการตามขั้นตอน “ข้าพเจ้าหวังว่าประชาชนจะอดทนและคำนึงถึงโอกาสที่จะใช้เวลาอยู่กับครอบครัว” อีกทั้งยังทรงเน้นย้ำให้ประชาชนปฏิบัติตามขั้นตอนมาตรการการป้องกันของเจ้าหน้าที่ และให้ความร่วมกับผู้ปฏิบัติงานแถวหน้าในวิกฤตินี้ “เป็นสิ่งสำคัญที่จะต้องช่วยเอาใจใส่กันและกัน เพื่อจะช่วยบรรเทาโควิด-19 ให้หมดไป”
โดยก่อนหน้านี้เมื่อสัปดาห์ที่แล้ว สมเด็จพระราชาธิบดี สุลต่าน อับดุลลาห์ และสมเด็จพระราชินี รวมทั้งมกุฎราชกุมารแห่งรัฐปะหัง พระราชโอรส ทรงสละเงินหลวงถวายเป็นเวลา 6 เดือนเช่นกันตั้งแต่เดือนมีนาคม-สิงหาคม
His Royal Highness Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan announced not to have the royal emoluments not paid to him for six months to help the country cope with the effects of COVID-19.
In a statement issued by the Kelantan Palace, Sultan Muhammad hoped the emoluments could be used to help ease the burden on the affected state following the implementation of the movement control. “The movement control command may be difficult but it is a step that must be taken. “I hope the people will continue to be patient and think of the order as an opportunity to spend more time with their families,” said the Sultan. He also reminded and urged the people of Kelantan to obey the instructions and cooperate with the frontline workers. “This is important to help level the curve of COVID-19 and at times we must be considerate.”
Last week The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah, as well as the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah, and their son the Crown Prince of Pahang also wished the government not to pay the royal emoluments to His Majesty for six months from March to August.
Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V berkenan agar emolumen diraja tidak dibayar kepada baginda untuk tempoh enam bulan bagi membantu negeri itu menangani kesan COVID-19.
Dalam satu kenyataan yang dikeluarkan oleh Istana Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad berharap emolumen itu boleh digunakan bagi membantu meringankan beban rakyat di negeri yang terjejas berikutan pelaksanaan perintah kawalan pergerakan (PKP). “Perintah kawalan pergerakan mungkin sukar tetapi ia adalah langkah yang perlu diambil. “Saya harap rakyat akan terus bersabar dan memikirkan perintah itu sebagai peluang untuk menghabiskan lebih banyak masa dengan keluarga,” titah sultan.
Baginda mengingatkan dan menggesa rakyat Kelantan untuk mematuhi arahan PKP dan memberi kerjasama dengan petugas barisan hadapan. “Ini penting untuk membantu meratakan lengkung COVID-19 dan pada masa kita mesti sentiasa bertimbang rasa,” titah Sultan Kelantan.
Minggu lepas Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah, dengan Raja Permaisuri Agong, dan Tengku Mahkota Pahang juga berkenan supaya kerajaan tidak membayar emolumen diraja kepada Seri Paduka berdua selama enam bulan mulai Mac hingga Ogos.
